Turning Forty Changes My Perspective

For me turning 40 means I need to take better care of myself. I am more conscious of my health, and know I cannot take it for granted anymore. I am more aware of my need to plan for my retirement, and I am taking active steps to work towards that goal. As a woman turning 40, I know my chance to have children is coming to a close, even to adopt them. I am not the person I thought I would be at this age, and my life isn’t at all how I pictured it, but I am happy. I focus on my looks and appearance. Lately I have been having fun with technology. I even buy reading glasses online. Which is somthing that could not have been imagined when I was in my twenties.

I find that I spend more time thinking about the future, and the fates of those I love. I pay more attention to the children in my family and the importance of taking an active interest in their lives. I also pay more attention to my husband, and how he takes care of himself. I find myself worrying about his health and safetly much more than I ever did and ofter fear the thought of losing him. I think about what my parents were like at this age and if they felt the same way I do.
